Rotation Assignments the Easy Way – Martin Gremm, CEO, CalendarLab

Rotation assignments are a problem at every dentistry school. Manual assignments are time consuming, tedious and error prone. CalendarLab automates this process. We will give you a brief introduction to CalendarLab. The you imports a list of students and creates all rotations in CalendarLab. CalendarLab then generates rotation assignments that are conflict-free and meet academic requirements. CalendarLab provides upload files to clinic management systems. We must have automation, but we also need good rotation design to generate assignments quickly and easily. Avoid designs with built in conflicts or where one change cascades through the whole schedule. We want rotation designs where one change causes one or two other other changes, but the rest of the assignments do not change. We will give examples of good and poor rotation designs. Good rotation design and CalendarLab’s automation will speed up the assignment process significantly.

Revolutionizing Implant Management: Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU ) School of Dentistry’s Innovative Solution with LM Dental Tracking System™– Brent Idleman, Director of Clinical and Instructional Technology, Virginia Commonwealth University

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry, USA. With a mission to educate future leaders in oral health, VCU is dedicated to fostering a community of service and inclusion through the use of emerging technologies and innovative research. Before, VCU encountered significant challenges in implant management due to the absence of a specialized tracking system. This resulted in financial losses from expired implants, difficulties in monitoring usage and returns, inefficient ordering processes, and disruptions in patient care. To address these issues, VCU implemented the LM DTS™ Software Server, complemented by the LM DTS™ Cabinet and LM DTS™ Table Reader. This system utilized disposable RFID stickers for tagging implants and RFID cards for provider identification. The introduction of DTS tray readers and LM DTS cabinets streamlined the process of implant registration, requisition, and dispensation. Additionally, the LMD Logistics Management Dashboard was integrated to monitor implant data, enhancing security, accountability, and regulatory compliance. The LM DTS™ Software has been successfully integrated with Axium Software for streamlined processes and improved data accuracy. The results have been transformative: • Real-time tracking of inventory quantity and value. • Prevention of financial losses due to expired implants. • Improved security measures and accountability. • Enhanced regulatory compliance. • Reduction in staff requirements. • Integration with Axium software. This innovative solution has revolutionized implant management at VCU, ensuring comprehensive oral health care for all. (If LM Dental is ok with this, please include. I don’t know if you want to be known as more than a clinical tracking system.) VCU has already expanded the use of this system to track multiple assets, including loaner laptops and classroom hardware.
